Starfish Marketing AI Ethics Statement
AI can be great for making things more efficient, but it is not a replacement for good marketing strategy or human creativity.
At Starfish Marketing, I use AI as a tool to help streamline processes, but everything I do is backed by my experience, expertise, and common sense.
This statement lays out how I use AI and where I draw the line.
1. How I Use AI
AI helps me work smarter, not harder. I use it for:
- Drafting content that I then refine to match the right tone, style, and accuracy.
- Researching trends, keywords, and audience insights to improve strategy.
- Automating repetitive admin tasks like scheduling and data organisation.
- Freeing up more time for creative and strategic thinking.
2. What AI Doesn’t Do
AI is a tool, not a replacement for human expertise. I do not use AI for:
- Publishing content without checking and editing it first.
- Creating misleading, inaccurate, or plagiarised material.
- Making strategic decisions. AI can suggest things, but I make the calls.
- Handling sensitive client data beyond what is needed for projects.
3. Keeping AI Output Accurate
To make sure AI-generated content is useful and correct:
- I always review and edit AI-created content before using it.
- I fact-check AI-assisted research against reputable sources.
- I regularly check AI’s output to make sure it aligns with my standards.
4. Being Transparent About AI
I believe in being upfront about how AI is used:
- Clients are told when AI has been involved in content creation or research.
- AI-generated content is never passed off as 100% human-created without review.
- I help clients understand both the benefits and limitations of AI in marketing.
5. Protecting Privacy and Staying Legal
I take data security seriously and follow all relevant laws:
- AI tools are only used in line with data privacy laws like the Australian Privacy Act.
- No sensitive client data is put into AI tools without permission.
- Security measures are in place to protect client and company information.
6. Using AI Responsibly
Since I am Starfish Marketing, I make sure AI is used in a responsible way:
- I stay up to date on AI’s capabilities and limitations.
- I assess AI outputs for bias, errors, or inaccuracies.
- AI supports my work but never replaces my expertise.
7. Who’s Responsible for AI at Starfish Marketing?
That would be me. I make sure AI is used properly by:
- Overseeing its use and ensuring it aligns with ethical marketing practices.
- Addressing any concerns about AI-generated content straight away.
- Regularly reviewing and updating my AI ethics approach as technology evolves.
AI is here to help, not to take over. It makes some things easier, but it will never replace the human touch, creativity, and strategic thinking that make my marketing work effective. AI helps me do what I do best, getting marketing done properly.
